Attitude is EVERYTHING in telesales. Regardless of all the telemarketing tips, or business phone help books you read, if you attitude is not in the right place then you can forget about ever becoming successful. Bottom line, successful people are successful because they see themselves as successful. Plain and simple.
Training of any kind can often, and almost should, pretty much start with a shift in attitude.
Before we can begin to sell consistently and professionally, we need to rid ourselves of all the negativity and ‘anger’ of being hung up on, on a regular basis. And lets face it, it does happen a lot!
Here’s a video by the amazing Zig Ziglar. Check out his outlook on attitude. This guy is truly one of the most positive individuals to ever walk our planet.
The other important factor of negativity is that ultimatly it will directly have an effect on you burning out. And burn-out in telesales, or any type of sales, is about as brutal as you can imagine. Here’s a link to a great book by sales guru Stephan Schiffman called “Beat Sales Burnout”, you should definitely check it out.
In the meantime, stay positive, healthy, happy and most important – keep selling!

This is a very nice video to watch..
There was a time in my selling career that I almost give up because I was always thinking of the negative things that has happen and keep on happening to me with that certain company, until I shared it to my friend and he told me “PARANOYA” it’s a latin word which means, change the way you think. And it’s very true, it has to start with what you think and everything will follow.. I’ll share this video to my friends and to my teammates as well for this is a very good motivational video. Thanks a lot Chris for sharing it to us..
Hope to see more videos like this in the future… More Power!!
@Barry – Right you are, my friend. Zig is a legend! His book “Secrets of Closing the Sale” has to be one of the all-time greats on the subject of sales and marketing. Have a great day ahead, buddy.
I Think Zig Ziglar is spectacular. I have read pretty much all of his books and have always found them to be of great help. I also saw him speak a few years back (before his head injury) and he was just as motivating in the flesh as he is in his books, videos and audio tapes. Long live Zig!
