Telesales Tips 101 – Starting Your Business Telesales Career

Many small businesses fail to achieve their full potential despite having great products, because a lot of business owners don’t know how and where to start achieving the goals of their business. It is like enrolling in a gym. If you don’t know what physical build you want and how to get it, you will never achieve it! Indeed, there’s a guideline that must be followed. People call it a training program, which is aimed at helping individuals develop the level of fitness they want.

In the same context, becoming successful in telesales is made up of guidelines. Here’s a training program that is completely tailor-made for you and will guide you as a beginner in telesales.

Have the right motivation to improve sales skills. Set your goals whether they are short or long term. Make sure all goals are reachable. Give yourself an incentive that will help motivate you to achieve your goal. Just believe in yourself and make it happen!

Get to know the top salesmen on the floor. Make acquaintances with them and learn from their achievements. There are some training books and information that will help you out too, and even the odd blog (like this one!) out there – all to help you learn. Acquire the drive and enthusiasm.

To achieve big success, listen and empathize with your clients and be sure to understand the sales process.

Have a training program that focuses on sales presentation. Divide it into 4 sections according to its type, as follows:

a. Your tempo and tone are needed. Your client should know who you are and why you’re calling. Give them a reason to listen to you. Be polite and professional.

b. Get details about your client. Ask open ended questions that start with What, Who, Where, When, Why and How. From these, you will be able to get information in regards to what they really want from your product or service rather than getting Yes or No answers. Make it sound like a conversation. Good listeners generally make more sales than good talkers.

c. Your products or services should have strong features and benefits attached to them. Use colorful and relevant benefits. Put the product in the clients hands – help them FEEL what it is like to use it, or experience the service your offering to them.

d. For closing, ask directly for the deal. Don’t complicate things. If you have created a good amount of rapport and sold those features and benefits then the close should happen, pretty much, all on its own.

You will double or even triple your income over time, if you apply these quick telesales techniques yourself. Think about your goals or target and visualize hitting it!

In telesales, and generally life in general, the philosophy, ‘if you build it, they will come’ is very true. Spend the time required to build your knowledge in telesales and be sure to subscribe to this blog. It’ll help you – and yes, we are biased here, but we also speak massive amounts of wisdom, too!
